Do You Know Where You're Going?

Hey, guys and gals!

We all know that our Lord is coming soon. The question we need to ask ourselves is "Do we know where we're going?" Here's a little food for thought as we see the Day approaching...

Tom

----------------------------------------

In January 2000, leaders in Charlotte, North Carolina, invited Dr. Billy Graham to a luncheon in his honor. Billy initially hesitated to accept the invitation because he struggles with Parkinson's disease. But the Charlotte leaders said, "We don't expect a major address. Just come and let us honor you." So he agreed.

After wonderful things were said about him, Dr. Graham stepped up to the rostrum, looked at the crowd, and said, "I'm reminded today of Albert Einstein, the great physicist who this month has been honored by Time magazine as the Man of the Century. Einstein was once traveling from Princeton on a train when the conductor came down the aisle, punching the tickets of every passenger. When he came to Einstein, Einstein reached in his vest pocket. He couldn't find his ticket, so he reached in his trouser pockets. It wasn't there, so he looked in his briefcase but couldn't find it. Then he looked in the seat beside him. He still couldn't find it.

The conductor said, "Dr. Einstein, I know who you are. We all know who you are. I'm sure you bought a ticket. Don't worry about it." Einstein nodded appreciatively The conductor continued down the aisle punching tickets. As he was ready to move to the next car, he turned around and saw the great physicist down on his hands and knees looking under his seat for his ticket.

The conductor rushed back and said, "Dr. Einstein, Dr. Einstein, don't worry, I know who you are. No problem. You don't need a ticket. I'm sure you bought one."

Einstein looked at him and said, "Young man, I too, know who I am. What I don't know is where I'm going."

Having said that, Dr. Billy Graham continued, "See the suit I'm wearing? It's a brand new suit. My wife, my children, and my grandchildren are telling me I've gotten a little slovenly in my old age. I used to be a bit more fastidious. So I went out and bought a new suit for this luncheon and one more occasion."

"Do you know what that occasion is?" he continued, "This is the suit in which I'll be buried. But when you hear I'm dead, I don't want you to immediately remember the suit I'm wearing. I want you to remember this: I not only know who I am, I also know where I'm going."

Reflections From Jitra

hi all,

just thought i should share my devotion on hebrews recently. i think it relevant to all of us. :)

"My son, do not make light of the Lord's discipline, and do not lose heart when He rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines those He loves...Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For waht son is not disciplined by his father?...No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it." (Heb 13:5b - 11)

I have promised a resolution lately, and that is to wake up at 6 every morning to do my quiet time and start the day right with God in view. So I took the discipline as mentioned in Hebrews above, as the spiritual discipline of waking up early to spend time seeking God.

I hope to encourage all of us to start our everyday seeking God too. It helps to put the rest of the day in correct perpsective.

love in Christ,
Melody

An Invitation to Pray Together

Dear CYFers,

The recent Family Camp in Frasers has truly been an uplifting one in so many ways. One of the things that we were greatly encouraged by was when one of the groups listed "Developing a Culture of Prayer" as a goal that the church should strive towards in addressing the issues that would face the world in the next 10 years.

"Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."
- 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV)

We urge all youths of CGC to pray continually as Paul exhorted the church at Thessalonica and we warmly invite us all to come together on Tuesday, 30 October 2007 @ 8.30pm in CGC to pray for and with the church.

In Him,

Stephen: Hey Guys!

Good stuff man, more stuff on our CGC blog now. :) Just to give a brief report of myself. Currently in Southampton. I'm fine here. Pretty cold weather and busy with my hospital postings and etc. I'm attending this assembly called Millbrook Road Gospel Hall. It's a very good assembly and the people here are very warm. Very solid teachings here too. And guess what, I get invited every sunday over to different people's house for lunch! Hehehe... Syiok betul.
The youths here are very warm too. We have youth meetings twice a month, where there'll be a speaker to speak on youth issues. It's really good. But the youths here also attend the thursday bible study and bible conferences, so we see each other more often, not only twice a month.

Hope u guys are doing alright there! Wei Zhong, sorry, no pork. Jen Yen, Keng Cheng and Bryan, remember to finish the book that I gave u guys. It's a very good book especially for u guys at this age. Miss all of you youths back in CGC!!! Sigh, I'm missing out on a lot now. Take care yeah!

'Matthew 25:13- Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.'

I hope the camp really did challenge all of you to prepare yourselves and be ready for the Lord's coming at all times! What are we doing for Him now?

Cheers!

Christmas Project!

We really don't have much time until Christmas, and we still have three more songs to cover, so i hope everyone would turn up consistently each Sunday for practice.

family camp 2007!

It's been on hectic week for some of us, being in Fraser's Hill for camp. Ask anyone and i think we all enjoyed it very much. The sessions conducted by Uncle Chan[Stephen Chandran] were the highlights to most of us as we took back a lot with us. I think the most important lesson learnt by us was that we don't have very much time till Jesus comes again. Don't be laid back and take things for granted! He's coming soon...and what will He see when He comes? will we be following Him back as His bride?

What if the end of the world is 1 week away?
